The day started before dawn, when a tiny gremlin awoke at 5:30am and announced, “Hiiiii!” The cottage we’re renting is small, so to avoid waking Chris and Theo (ain’t no one wants to wake Theo early!!), I took Sam to the potty and then shuffled him quietly back into the bedroom and plopped him on the bed for some iPad time. Naturally, I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I put in my earbuds and watched a couple Netflix shows with this as my view:
(In case you’re wondering, Chris and Theo slept until 7:30. Lucky ducks!)
When everyone was finally up, I had a bowl of cereal with some of our fresh-picked blueberries mixed in. Yum!
We had an easy morning–just got the van washed with a coupon the dealer had given us. And then we went to a tasty burger place where I was able to get a super yummy salted caramel shake!
Theo helped me with a bit of it:
Unfortunately, delicious though it was, my plan was foiled. Normally ice cream is one of the foods that does NOT make me ill. Alas, that was not the case today. But dang, it sure tasted good!
Sam has made MAJOR potty progress the last month or so, which is super exciting! NOT super exciting is the fact that he practically sticks his head in the toilet bowl to watch the flush every time.
It’s not bad in a nice, clean home toilet. But it’s super nasty in public bathrooms–ick!
We relaxed a bit in the afternoon, then took the boys to a local park with a wading pool. Sam loved it!
Pretty trees! Still hazy, but not nearly as bad today.
Then we found another park where people had left tons of trucks and ride-on toys for others to use. Sam’s idea of heaven!
Then we met Auntie Lisa, Uncle Chris, and Cason for delicious Thai food for dinner. Alas, my system went haywire shortly after dinner, so Chris had to stop by the drugstore and pick up some drugs for me. (Not that they work, but at least I feel like I’m trying…) But at least I got a cute picture of Sam “reading” while we waited in the car!
And video! He’s naming off the foods he sees on a particular page. (Trying a new video upload, so we’ll see if this works!)
Tomorrow: a trip to Bainbridge Island to see Auntie Lisa’s parents, who I’ve known since I was five! The boys have a great time together, so it’ll be good fun! (Now if my gut would just behave already. Much as I hate to admit it, I think I’m going to have to see the doctor when we get home. Even my “safe” foods are getting me. Sigh….)
