Sometimes, you meet your lifelong best friend at age five, and as you grow up together, you plan stuff like, “…and our kids will be best friends, too!” And then it actually happens. Witness these two:
Thick as thieves! Cason is six (closer to Sam’s age, really) and Theo is nine, but they get along famously. We weren’t even sure Cason would remember Theo, since he was four when we last visited, but he claimed he did. And regardless, the two didn’t miss a beat–the minute we got to Auntie Lisa’s house on Thursday, they ran off to play together without a look back!
Today, we spent the day at Lisa’s parents’ house on Bainbridge Island. Such a calm, relaxing day! Theo and Cason kept each other entertained for SIX HOURS without so much as a squabble or an “I’m borrrrrrred!” Glorious, I tell you!
There was much jumping on the trampoline by everyone but me. (I pee my pants on those things, people. No shame in that!)
There was also much playing with Legos and a dance party of sorts for the two little besties. Sam mostly stuck with the grown ups, but he had fun too.
Because first of all, we got to ride the ferry over to the island! And Sam is a huge fan of all vehicles:
It was a great way to spend our last day in Seattle. Tomorrow morning we leave for Bend, Oregon, where we’ll spend a few days before heading home. Then we’ve got one week to chill before my little monkeys start school. Yikes!
