Lexington Day 9: Boxerwood

On our final non-travel day of vacation, we started the morning with a little kite-flying and then went to Boxerwood Gardens, a neat little nature preserve thingy designed to be a kids’ paradise. The boys spent most of their time in the outdoor “kitchen,” using the old pots and pans to make stews and soups out of water and dirt and sticks to serve in the “Dirty Bistro.” I wish we had a place like this near us–it’s such a hit with the boys! Sam was pretty tired and rather grumpy (jet lag is not his friend), but he still had fun until a diaper explosion (for the wee one) forced Chris to flee with him.

Tonight I went to dinner with my aunt and my uncle’s sister, Meg, while Chris took the boys out to dinner. A good time was had by all!

Tomorrow’s total travel time: projected at 14 hours. Good grief! Think happy thoughts for us!
