I posted this on Facebook, but thought I’d share it here, too, for any readers who aren’t connected with me on FB.
It’s that time again! Time to fundraise for our favorite local organization, Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area. They are a huge support for people with DS and their families in this area. This summer, Sam again took part in their Communication Readiness Program, a six-week program designed to help him communicate in the way most effective for him, so that he can be as successful as possible in school. He also attended Peer Development Classes weekly, where he got to play with members of his DS tribe and work on developmentally appropriate skills with other kids in his age group. And he took part in a tutoring pilot, where his tutor worked with him on early math/numeracy skills that will help him as he enters kindergarten. Can you help us support the organization that has done so much for our little guy?? No donation is too small—every bit helps!
We plan to do the same as we did last year: Each weekend, we will pull a name from the donors over the past week. If your name is pulled, we will match your donation. Plus, Chris’s company matches OUR donation, so they will be matching it as well. And the Quest Foundation is doing a 50 percent match, too. So basically, if you’re the lucky winner of the week and you donated $20, DSCBA would end up getting $90! If you donated $100, DSCBA would end up getting $450! I mean, really…what an investment, yes?! C’mon and join the fun!
Also, if you’re local and want to walk with us in October, we’d LOVE to have you join us! (And I’ll get you a customized shirt if you do!) It’s a super fun day with a lot of amazing, awesome, incredible people! Come play with us!! https://
